Pelletizing Products

PLI is proud to embark upon frontier in materials handling. Pelletizing some of the most commonly used materials saves time, space and reduces the headaches that conventional materials handling can produce. Among the benefits of pelletizing materials are:

  • Volume Reduction - By pelletizing, the volume of all materials is reduced. This allows for reduction in pack-aging, warehouse space, transportation, and most important available storage space on the rig. Some organic fibers are reduced by 75%. This means that the same weight of fibers can now be stored, moved, and used in 75% less space and time. For example, four pallets of some fibers can now be condensed into one. Even lignite is reduced by 26%, meaning that four pallets of lignite are now condensed into three!
  • Dust Reduction - The pelletizing process changes the dusty powders and fibers into condensed pellets. This same product now can be mixed at the hopper with no or little dust emissions, providing a cleaner and safer work environment. This is especially critical with lignites, graphites, and other similar materials that are dirty and dus
  • Mixing Ease - Most fibers especially coarse organic fibers, due to their light density, are difficult to add into the hopper. Some also have a tendency to float on top of the drilling fluid. By pelletizing, the material is condensed and this allows for rapid additions into the hopper with no floating. With the bigger mud systems now in use and with higher circulating rates this is of great benefit.
  • Custom Blends - If desired, a blend of two to four different materials can be blended and pelletized. This allows the mixing of up to four materials in one sack. All with the efficiencies that pelletizing offers. At present the drilling industry is partial to calcium carbonates, fibers, and graphites, for seepage and lost circulation control. All of these are difficult to mix and handle. By blending and pelletizing these can be mixed into the system with handling only one sack. These blends can be utilized in water, diesel, or synthetic fluid systems.
